I am not a web designer.

I am not a web designer. I just wanted to say that before people go to the geekbeer website and see what I uploaded last night. I threw it together sort of as a trial run at using css, and as a way to start brainstorming what exactly the page needs to have on it. It's not too hard to think of the obvious stuff right away, but I always feel like my pages are too bare at first. The little things that fill it out seem to creep in over time, so I wanted to start the incubation period right away.

Speaking of design, the whole website is laid out with css. It's my first website to use it to such an extent, and I really like it so far. I took my wobbly steps in that direction after being inspired by the designs at the css Zen Garden. By no means is the content on the site fully defined yet. You are very likely to see sections appear and disappear, somewhat randomly and arbitrarily. This is just a start. In addition to the content changes, I plan on rewriting the css and html at least a few more times so it's nicer for everyone whether they are actively working on it or just visiting the site trying to find the beer.

Next on the list of things to do for geekbeer, is to begin putting the design ideas we all have down on paper. This means soon we will start posting technical discussion, as well as adding content to the overview section. As I write I am already thinking of web page sections I missed too, such as where to put general beer information. It seems like I'm going to have to break the main page down into broader categories and then have options within those pages. Finally, we are also going to have a meeting about equipment we need soon. The results of that should be interesting to the people that are here for the beer and engineering, not my ramblings about amateur website building.
